I am trying to find the best way to add CSS to individual custom fields. I have found and tried the Field Formatter Class module. It sounds like exactly what I needd, but it does not seem to work on all fields, and or content types.
I would think this would be a common thing to need to do, but based on the usage of that module, maybe I am missing something more obvious.

The Display Suite module
The Display Suite module among other things adds the ability to add styles (which are css classes) to individual fields on the "Manage display" tab

I have installed and enabled
I have installed and enabled the display suite module. I do not see any changes to the "Manage Display" tab. I have read some of the documentation, and it makes it seem that the display suite fields are not the same thing as the fields that you add to a content type. What am I missing here?

Ok... I am not sure how to do that, but are you talking about selecting a layout? Do I really need to select a display suite layout, just to get a css class added to a field. I don't doubt that this will work, it just seems like a lot of work and overhead for something I would think would be a pretty common thing to want to do.
