I ran into a problem trying to learn the date and calendar modules. The date module seems to push all the messages to the front page:

I've checked the "Publishing Options" and the "Promoted to Front Page" is unchecked in each Date content type.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your input, Marc.
However, I'm a little unclear of what you mean by "disabled or not to show on front page the views-block calendar."
Could you please clarify? I'm pretty new to Drupal.
Thanks again! -- John.
