From the usability study, people were unclear what 'Theme: information' meant; also “Theme information name is misleading because we are talking about templates. I have been on this page so many times and it’s still complicated. How are you supposed to know that this has theme’s real output?” (P4)

Possible solution is to relabel it to something like 'Theming: templates'

I think the documentation talks "theme suggestions" (http://drupal.org/node/1089656). We could name it like that
or maybe use Theming: Help?

Tagging as Novice to find first a proper name for the link and then patch that new name in.

How do you like Output: Used Templates or Output: Used Themes?
It says that you get a list of templates that are used to display the View.

These names sound for me just like a list, but there are also suggestions and the actual code to look at.

Oh i also like Theming: templates, any reasons against that? Maybe someone will have a better idea later.

What about something like Available Templates?

dawehner’s picture

Oh that's a good one, so Theming: Available Templates?

Bojhan’s picture

I would go with "Theming: Templates", the information "available" seems rather redundant and might be misleading to inform these are not all.

Just another idea ... Just Theming or Templates ? I guess for most people which do theming don't care about the difference of it.

Why not Plugins: Templates to be more specific? That or Output: Templates. I don't think theme or theming is helpful in this context.

I like Output: Templates.

I think Templates: Theming information is the most clear. Otherwise I think a few of the other suggestions could work.

I think that Output: Templates works because it is still a one word: one word pattern, but output is more fitting than the original label, and I like that the link is templates because you are led to a list of potential templates when you click.

I was recently asked about this, and I really feel that adding the word "Available" before "templates" is more accurate and clear. That word alone makes me think I am going to be seeing the variants that already exist.

I also have a nagging voice in the back of my head that is pushing changing "Output" to "Theme". I think it is idea box of known Drupal terms that is being very sticky. I also find the term a bit too generic. "Display" seems like it should be a likely candidate, also.

dead_arm’s picture

In #7 Bojhan said that using 'available' before 'templates' is redundant.

I think using 'display' as the label would be confusing here because the word 'displays' is used to add and describe the various configurations in a view.
