Date Facets currently only supports the Apache Solr Search Integration module. It should also integrate with the core search module out of the box.

The widget does not support the date query type
Do you also plan to support the Search API SOLR Module?!

Known follow-up issue at #1836770: Add date rounding for the core search query type so that we can match Solr and make more efficient use of the query cache.
