This is a recent issue that started only today. I've never seen it before but it happened after I attempted creating makefiles using drush make-generate (this might be a coincidence).

Upon using $ drush dl projectname, drush hangs.

$ drush pm-releases projectname is fine.

Using the -d option I find that it hangs on:

Verifying signature for bzr version control engine. [5.02 sec, 34.66 [debug]
MB]

I don't see anything BOA related here. You may have connectivity issue between your server and d.o etc.

Hi Moshe, sorry for the dup. Can I assume it is a duplicate of this: http://drupal.org/node/1025858 I've had a look around and I'm not entirely clear if my issue is the same and where to find the info to resolve it. Thanks.

This could be Linode New Relic specific issue (when enabled for php-cli) - see also: #1842736: New Relic prevents Drush prompts from showing, appears to hang
