Followed the community drupal docs and set external link in config- web services -feed aggregator
Set the link and it shows up under navigation >feed aggregator>sources BUT when I find it in
blocks and configure to main content of specific page it does not show up.
You can seehere
the feed link shows up under source after stupid url and 'never updated' message.

sorry shouldn't add links as invariably they will change. the feed bizarrely decided to show up out of the blue, i did something with cron in cpanel but afterwards no change but now it is working, don't know why but along with feed errors getting menu errors so doing a reinstall but with new update from 7.16>7.17 and will be creating proper sub theme not clone and placing css where it should be and not mucking around with core, then will start aggregator from scratch. see how it goes.
=-=
cron is required to run to pull the data from 3rd party feeds and display them in the aggregator blocks/pages
FYI... another explanation...
It's also possible that you still have a problem and the feed block will disappear.
For it to consistently appear, you need to make sure that in your aggregator permissions area that anonymous users have permission to "access news feeds." If you don't, the block will disappear on you.
Hope that helps

permissions
Yes, permissions allow anon users to view but now using feeds module and think have been trying to concentrate on too many things. Amyway, plan on switching back to core aggregator because feeds seems to be creating one page for one bit of content and displaying only that. Unless I thoroughly understood feeds which I don't I can't get it to work so back to basics. Thanks.
Worked for me. It was
Worked for me. It was confusing because anonymous user could see views, but not aggregator block.
Thanks!
