I have Solr 3.6 running fine and can connect with the 6.x-3.0 module but cannot connect with the 6.x-1.7 version. Has anyone else had this problem?
I would really like to be able to use several of the related contrib modules like solr auto complete and solr for ubercart that only work for the 6.x-1.x version.

nick_vhDrupal 6.x-1.7 is known to work with Solr 3.5 for sure. 3.6 can possibly give you some small issues as the schema had to be adjusted a little bit to accomodate for these changes. I'd recommend you to use 6.x-3.x and use the dev version of apachesolr_ubercart that now support 6.x-3.x from what I've heard.
We will not add more specific support to 6.x-1.7 in combination with Solr 3.6 until we see a patch coming by to fix it. Also, can you give more details on the connection problem? Without more information we are not able to help you and therefor I am going to close this issue until you report back.
