I've noticed a few other people have had issues with Yahoo Terms taking liberties with unrelated categories and generally causing problems with taxonomy. In my case I have the freetagging "Tags" category for Yahoo Terms to use, and another category called "Topics" which contains 5 pre-determined terms that are also assigned to each node for classification purposes.
When I create a node with Yahoo Terms enabled, it assigns extracted terms to the "Tags" category correctly (albeit always 2 less than the max I enter in the settings). However, it also ignores the "Topic" that I've manually selected and assigns a different one (always the same one).
Furthermore, when I try to create a Forum topic posting it ignores the "Forum topic" I assign to the post and instead assigns a term from "Topics", which isn't even applicable to Forum topics. The effect is that the Forum topic posting I've just created doesn't show up in the forums at all (since it was assigned a "Topics" term instead of a "Forum topic" term) and is left in limbo.
At this point I'm going to have to disable Yahoo Terms completely since it's totally mucking with my taxonomy. Hopefully this issue (which seems pretty important) can be solved, and I'll give it another shot.
