I've talked with Victor the current project maintainer a few times over the last month and it sounds like he is progressing with the update to Drupal 5.x. I've offered to help where I can as I would like to use the module on a project in the near future. So, to get things rolling, and so I have a place to keep track of my needs/changes here is what I'm hoping to do ...
First and foremost update the existing code to Drupal 5.x and ensure compatibility therein.
Second, I hope to be able to use the module as such when complete. My client currently has a Drupal 5.x website, and an account with Salesforce that they use to manage their contacts. The website provides information to people that have attended one of their conferences, and allows these people to discuss topics from these conferences with one another via a discussion board.
Currently the database of users on the Drupal site and the contact information is maintained separately, and they would like to eliminate as much of the redundancy as possible. Ideally they would like to be able to enter a new contact into the salesforce database, and once that contact had been marked as "attended conference" then they would have an account on the Drupal site automatically created for them.
This account would contain basic contact, and profile information for the user so that other users on the site could have that information available to them.
If a user on the Drupal site updates their "profile" that information would need to be synced back into salesforce.
If the users contact information was updated on the salesforce site that information would need to be synced up on the Drupal site.
There is also a need to be able to browse/search the contact/profile information on the Drupal site ina Directory like format. Where users of the site can find other people based on defined criteria like City, State, etc.
I'm sure there will be more once I get into it.

bjacob commentedHello,
it's good to hear that someone is working on the module. Yesterday I wrote an email to Victor asking him about the status of the module. Furthermore I've offered help. I'm not a programmer but I've got a good knowledge of XHTML and CSS as well as in testing software. So, if you need me just let me know. Looking forward hearing from you soon.

senpai commentedIs there a non-crashing version of the code that could be committed to CVS as a 5.x-dev so we might begin filing issues and feature requests against it?
