The page doesn't indicate that development releases are now versioned, nor does it explain the new version format of dev branches with {major}.{minor}+{commits since tag}-{dev}. I'd update the page, but I'm not sure if it's kosher to just go update the page or whether there is some sort of review process these days.

My investigation suggests the linked documentation accurately reflects the present process for versioning releases, dev and otherwise.
