Upload file manager content type?

I have created a content type called 'Assignment'. Where a teacher posts information about an assignment. Is there a module that can act as an add on to manage file attachments per member?.

For example, if a teacher creates 'Assignment One' then a student can upload a file between dates given. Any sort of module available to do this? (i know i can add an attachment field but i want a bit more control over it, e.g. one submission per individual per assigment.
