I would like users with a certain role to be able to chat with everyone and users without this role to only be able to chat with users with this role.

This feature is already available, if you are using "iFlyChat Servers" polling method.

I may write a patch since I am using the "Long Polling" method.

Plus one for this, understand you guys are trying to promote your chat service, but this seems like a piece of functionality that should be out of the box.

Looks like part of the patch got removed from the 7.x-1.0-beta13 release. Can you add those parts back into the next release?
