Hello all,

I'm trying to create just a very simple Drupal site for a client. I chose Drupal because later, as his business grows, we would like to expand the site. For now, all he needs is a very basic site with just a mission statement. Is it possible to do this? I added a mission statement but just below the statement is the "Welcome to your new Drupal website!" message. Is it possible to remove this statement?

googling the subject brought up a couple of options but, unfortunately, none of them completely answered my question.

If you create a page, that will replace the "welcome" message (provided it is "promoted to the front page"). It could say "come back soon/under development ..."

guessing that your "mission statement" requirement is temporary, and that is will be replaced by "real" content one day.

another suggestion is to create a "page" and make it your default front page (administer > site configuration > site information; stick "node/x" in there.). when you want to go back to the "as-delivered" default, change that back to "node".

as the other poster said, the "welcome" text will be replaced when you start to generate content that has the publishing option of "promoted to front page".

thanks for the replies. i've already created a generic post that stated "Thanks for visiting". i put a little info in that states that the site will be updated regularly. :-)

i'll try the new page option.
