Hello, I am very new to Drupal, however I do have some experience building websites. The first problem I have encountered is that while building my basic page, I have no options available to edit the text. Absolutely nothing like what is available in this forum such as link button or bold.

Do I need to install a certain module to get this feature?

I assume you mean rich text options. This type of text editing is called What You See Is What You Get or WYSIWYG.
