Description

I notice that while there are a number of voting modules, a number of the widely discussed ones, fivestar, jvoting, mediumvote, etc., seem to allow control of voting based on content type.... Does any one of these modules provide a way to limit voting depending on taxonomy? I guess I could theme voting out for certain taxonomies, but I'm curious if ANY voting module allows you to control voting based on taxonomy on top of content type? If this can be done, ucan.org can put $200 up for anyone willing to take it on...

if there are ways of coding snippets into my page or node tpl that would be a good second option I guess, but ideally I'd like to really specialize voting based on taxonomy...

thanks, art

I have the same question to the developers. The way the voting is currently implemented, doesn't allow finer granularity control of the voting. Is this a question for the VotingAPI or this is the right place to ask it?

Yes, this is the right place to ask. VotingAPI just provides the data storage and tallying mechanisms. Fivestar (or other voting modules) are responsible for exposing access to voting and telling VotingAPI to record the votes.

Finer control over voting sounds like a desirable feature, but I have no need for it and no one has put forth a serious proposal of how this should be accomplished. In the past, I simply theme out the widget if I don't want users voting on a particular node, but this isn't as secure as it could be if implemented into Fivestar directly.

Do you mean theme out using CSS?
