Picali.com makes use of taxonomy and a whole lots of ingenuity to get user image galleries in Drupal without using Gallery or any other third party software. It has been optimized to only produce 30 to 70 queries depending on the page shown. I will be writing up the tech specs later. But right now you can feast on the beta product.

what language are you targetting?
By default I was getting some sort of Swedish/English mix. Was a bit confusing until I found the little flags up top. Probably a good idea to set the default to English. Maybe do some IP geolocation.
I also noticed line breaks seem to be "broken" in your welcome email.
Getting "\r\n" instead of actual line breaks.

still beta....not perfect...yet.
Still in beta and translators have not been informed that the code has been changed. So the language is going to be mixed for a couple of days or so. The other items are associated with the importation of users from another website. The translators will also fix these small errors when they go through the administration clean up process.

How easy was it to make this website??? I amgoing to make something kind of similar in some respects. Just wondering how many people you have working on it and how long it is taking to complete?
Any info would be much appreciated
It would have been easier if
It would have been easier if we actually had a project plan , use cases and a project manager that knew their stuff. But as it was it took me three tries and 3 months to get what you see now. Which is not perfect in any way. There are too many things tucked away into template files which make the modules non-generic. To do this you are going to have to know the taxonomy system and module inside out. You will also have to become intimate with the theming system.
