Show news items grouped by month

Hello, I have a client who wants their News Archive page displayed thus:

November 2012

News item 1 November, 2012
Read more>>

News item 13 November, 2012
Read more>>

News item 25 November, 2012
Read more>>

October 2012

News item 1 October , 2012
Read more>>

News item 13 October , 2012
Read more>>

News item 25 October , 2012
Read more>>

Etcetera, so all the news items are displayed in their respective month,

I'm using Views 3 (not views 2 - apparently this was possible in views 2). I've tried adding the date again showing is as month and year but my problem is it now shows as many times as there are entries for that month

I've nearly got it working by adding the date field again, then creating a month format and setting that field as a grouping field, but now displays the same month more than once if there is more than one entry for it, any ideas?
