There's a 'thing' I want to add onto pages/ other content types in a standard form. So I'm thinking it might be a Block, but I'm probably wrong.
The 'thing' would be comprised of two elements. On the left would be an image - typically, say, a book cover centred vertically and horizontally in a cell. On the right would be some text - typically teaser text for the book, so potentially multi-line. Clicking on either the image or the text would redirect to a secondary internal or external page (I know I can potentially do the redirection anchor links). The 'thing' would be surrounded by a visible border, with the same border dividing the image and the text.
Recognising I have no idea what I'm talking about, or even if there is intrinsically any difference, should I be looking at teachning myself more about Block creation, Panels, or something else?
Any input, including 'stop wasting our time, you're an Idiot', gratefully accepted and appreciated :-).

how are the content contained within the "thing" saved to the database? with a content type? if so you can use views to out that data and place it in a block for use on the pages where you want the "thing" to display.
Recognising...
... I don't really have the first idea what I'm talking about - in Drupal terms anyway - and only what I'm trying to achieve, I can't really answer your question. But it adds a 'something to understand better' to my list since you suggest I'd better learn more about Content Types - which certainly does make sense now you remind me of it. My thanks indeed :-).
