Everett has served the Drupal community very well and we do hope he continues to do so.
On his request we are removing him from the MAINTAINERS.txt file. I am willing to stand as a maintainer in his place.

Everett Zufelt CreditAttribution: Everett Zufelt commentedIt's been a great experience working with the community to understand and implement accessibility over the past 3+ years. I'm super excited to find new technical challenges to solve in Drupal Core.

webchickWhen I think back to when the a11y initiative first started, the community was pretty much at a "What's an alt tag?" level of understanding. When we fast-forward to now, we see an accessibility group, a team, core office hours mentoring around accessibility testing, a gate that describes how to test patches for accessibility, and community members making sure that user-facing changes are checked for things like colour contrast, keyboard-only accessibility, and so on. You've both made an absolutely profound impact on our community, and it's been an absolute pleasure working and learning from you.
Everett, can't wait to see what your next Drupal Core pursuit ends up being! :D Mike, welcome to MAINTAINERS.txt. :)
Committed and pushed to 8.x. :)

larowlanEverett, I too wish to echo the sentiments of Mike and Angie above, thanks for all of your efforts over the past three years and I'm glad you'll still be around Drupal.
Mike, congratulations on well-deserved recognition!

mgiffordThanks everyone! It's been a wonderful story to be part of and glad to take on a more official role.
I'm happiest though that Everett's keen to find new challenges within the Drupal community.

Mike, my congratulations too! Let's work together to make sure that drupal will remain (an become more) accessible!

mgiffordAccessibility is always going to be a challenge on the Internet and we really appreciate your work to help us improve it.

David_Rothstein CreditAttribution: David_Rothstein commentedThanks for all your amazing work, Everett! Very interested to see what you focus on next.
@mgifford, just wondering if you want to be added as an accessibility maintainer for Drupal 7 too, or just Drupal 8?
mgiffordThanks for asking David. I'm fine with just being added to Drupal 8 at the moment. I don't see any reason at the moment to change the D7 MAINTAINERS.txt list.

mgiffordThanks Owen. Would love to call on you for some stuff for D8. You did help out a lot on D7.
