Creating a deviant art style website

im working on a photo sharing site similar to deviantart where users can upload images to specific categories.

the front page would display random images as thumbnails similar to deviantart. how would i accomplish this?

any ideas appreciated. i should mention that im fairly new at this so no coding solutions

i hope this could help you, but to summarize

Create a view on which the images content type will be the filter then on sort criteria select the Global:random
