I find emfield to be the nicest solution to display video files. I checked out video.module (ugly and counter-intuitive use of tabs), flashvideo.module (a serverside transcoding solution, over the top for my needs) and emfield/embedded video field.

It would be nice to have an option to point to a flvplayer.swf on your own server. Using the Custom URL option I see it tries to load flvplayer from another domain. It would be nice to be able to override that url with your own from within the settings instead of changing the url in zzz_custom_url.inc by hand.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I was able to load a flash file on my own server by just using the full URL (http:// etc.)

I'm also looking for similar solution. Default player doesn't provide enough option . I want to add my decustomised video play.
There should be some option for that.

ah, good idea. not sure it'll get in time for d5. i'll put it in d6 and backport. probably w/ instructions to use flowplayer by default, but of course people could add their own.
