Drupal Case Studies

Brighton for Business

The client (Brighton & Hove City Council) objective's for the site is to attract new businesses to the city, bring in new prospects and retain and develop current businesses within the city and surrounding areas.

The site will be used to dispel negative perception about the city as a place to do business and educate users in what makes the city a great place to do business. It will also be used to provide a clear communication channel for business to contact the city to enquire about moving, starting up or growing in the city.

Why Drupal was chosen:

Drupal was chosen for this project as the client is government funded (Brighton and Hove City Council) so an open-source platform was the best choice. The client also want to manage their content themselves and also required custom functionality throughout the site.

Describe the project (goals, requirements and outcome):

The website will be heavily published through the council and throughout the city, along with critics (including councillors, local business leaders and influencers) using the site and promoting it through their own media channels.

Modules/Themes/Distributions
Key modules/theme/distribution used:
Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen:

Get locations was used as it uses Google maps API V3.0 which was required to customise the map with a new colour scheme and custom markers.

Views and jquery/ajax played a vital role in how the site interacts with the user. We were able to generate content of pages using ajax and replacing content with the JSON response, along with some nice jQuery transitions, giving a seamless look and feel to part of the site.

Omega was used as the base theme for our custom theme. While we didnt use the responsive part of the theme, the site is still mobile friendly, but most of the target users will be desktop based.
