Anyway to attach a poll to a story? (like comments)
bslade - March 7, 2005 - 17:53
Is there anyway to attach a poll to a story? So it shows up like comments associated with the story?
Since Drupal.org doesn't have the notification module installed, please email me if you post to this thread.
I've heard of some new module called Node Relativity, but I haven't had a chance to research it yet.
I've also read about some sort of node_api module "hook" (callback) that can extend the functionality of modules. Would that be the way to go?
Thanks in advance.

Try the "Attached Node"
Try the "Attached Node" module. It's a filter that allows you to include other nodes within nodes (and probably comments) with a simple tag.

The Node Relativity module will also work
The "Attached Node" module will handle simple one-off cases just fine. If you want to configure your site so that, in general, poll nodes can be attached to story nodes (and have links on story nodes to do so), the "Node Relativity" module offers this functionality. You may have to use the cvs version to do specifically what you're talking about, though.
FYI, you can track your own postings on drupal.org with the tracker module. Your posts specifically can be found here: http://drupal.org/user/15092/track
Re: Node Relativity module will also work
Thanks for pointer to "Node Relativity". I'll take a look.
Re: track my own postings with the tracker module.
The question was actually how to get email notifications of postings to specified threads. I don't see any option for that in drupal.org->my account->track

I would also like to see
I would also like to see email notifications, but that would require a lot more server resources to deal with. I believe all of drupal.org runs on a single box that was only recently upgraded from a small PIII PC. Maybe with more donations, such resources could be installed.
In the meantime, it makes sense to answer questions like these in the forums so that they'll be available for others to find with the search engine. If replies are sent directly to an email account, nobody else will have access to this or other responses. Just something to consider.
