New bean types don't appear until cache clear

I feel like i'm slightly losing it here, i could swore this used to work.

i'm on drupal core with nothing installed except bean and bean_admin_ui (and all dependencies thereof).

block types -> add -> click save
don't see any new block types

cc all, refresh page
see new block types

I'm on the latest dev version of bean.
