I am very sorry to say that your guidelines are teaching us like a random shooting. there is no straight forward procedure. Just saying this and that will do. But a practical solution to show a webform on my default basic page. if simply O converted the Text Format into PHP code and paste some module code, It is landing me on error messages mine.
There must be a step by step leading, right, Am I need to generate any element to connect the webform module and How I need to pass the fields as arguments. Without giving any constructive mechanism to do all these things, How could you dump all these modules on our faces?
I know PHP code very well, but what is the use, I am unable to show a form of just two text fields and one button by these modules!? Ten days have passed after installing the drupal package.Nothing I could display there on my Home page. There must be a node which can access to a module by giving the module name as argument. By passing secondary arguments as fields and we can get a way to build a form. but nothing is constructive and descriptive here. Every thing is vague sugestion lists.

You can render a webform in a block and display it on any region of the page by assigning the block to the < front >. This way whatever is the default front page is will display the webform block. Google "drupal webform block" and you should find handy information on this.

As far as your frustration goes, yes drupal is a steep learning curve and you need to look into using the UI instead of thinking of coding everything and need to reference the drupal api for helpful functions. Look into taking a basica drupal course or tutorial and understand nodes, blocks, views, and template files.
