easy image insertion/editing/management in drupal posts?

Hi,

We are working on a fairly straightforward Drupal site in which ease of use for inexperienced users is a primary goal. I would like to make it as easy as possible for people to insert images into their posts, and then to edit those images as they need to (without having to pre-process the image in some editing software). o for instance, if I'm writing a blog post, I would like to be able to:

- drag an image from the desktop, or
- click on an 'insert image' icon that allows me to upload an image without all kinds of intermediate clicks;

and then

- easily crop the image (other post-processing might be nice I guess, but cropping is a very common modification) without a lot of extra through-clicking

I'm really interested to hear what other people have done to implement this kind of user experience. Is there a set of modules that you can recommend? Is there a lot of hand-coding to do as well? Thanks very much,
