I tried installing the ecommerce module in drupal 5.3 (recently released) and it failed. I tried installing both ec 3.3 and the alpha 4, both failed with the same problem.
The problem had something to do with _ec_mail_modref() - not sure if it was an isolated problem but I rolled back to Drupal 5.2 and managed to install the ecommerce modules with no problems (both 3.3 and alpha 4 installed fine).
Kind regards,
Ryan Butler

Nikkol commentedI had the same problem.... just letting you know you weren't alone. I tried installing both 3 and alpha4 and have issues.

kleung11 commentedSame here. I installed fresh copy of xampp on XP, started up mysql and apache2. Used phpMyAdmin to create a drupal db. Mail was not setup and configured, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Installed drupal 5.3, token 5.x-1.9, ecommerce 4 alpha 5. After enabling token and ecommerce store, everything was still fine. But when I try to enable the shipping module, I will get a huge stack trace error.

mo6Can you provide more info about the error? This could be related to XAMP on XP. Did you configure PHP with enough memory?

gordon commentedHave you previously installed e-Commerce and then removed it from the system by manually deleting the tables from MySQL?
gordon commentedClosed as this seems to be a problem where a previous version of e-Commerce is uninstall wrong.
