I am a beginner working on Windows 7. I installed Acquia Damp Stack about a year ago, downloaded an instance of drupal core 7.9 onto my desktop, and created a new site and database, a subdomain that I named 'drupal-sample1.localhost' . I played around with some of the features and abandoned it. Now I am back and want to update to the lastest version...7.17 and start all over. I have no attachment to my test site so I want to delete it. Since the previous version 7.9 is on my desktop, can I delete it and download the latest version? The plan would be to save the latest version into 'user\mark\sites\drupal717'. The database is also a sub that I am hoping to delete. Does this make sense? Thanks for your feedback.

should be fine.
The old Db can be dropped
The old files/folders can be deleted.
Thanks VM
Thanks for the quick info. I assume I go to the dev desktop control panel >manage my database >drupal-sample1, then click 'drop'. Is there anything more to deleting the db than that.?

nope. You may want to check that the stack hasn't been updated by acquia. If it has you may want to remove the current implementation and install the newer version. considering that you began with Drupal 7.9 indicates that you near a year behind.
I can see that. I would
I can see that. I would imagine mysql and apache have released newer versions as well. I'm pretty sure I didn't update the stack, nor acquia for that matter. Thanks for the input.
