I'm trying to figure out what this module offers that isn't already offered by the FileField Sources module (http://drupal.org/project/filefield_sources). In fact, it would seem to be that FileField Sources is more configurable and more stable. Or am I missing something?

FF Sources does not allow to use FTP uploaded files and its IMCE integration has still bugs and the development is very slow.

FileFiled Sources does allow the use of FTP uploaded files. It's not reflected in the image on the module's home page (I'm guessing it's a newer feature). When configuring the field, under File Sources, check the "File attach from server directory" checkbox. Then, a bit farther down ton the form, you can identify the directory to attach. (See screenshot.)

If there are bugs and slow development, maybe they need an additional developer on that project? Sounds like a great opportunity for you to get involved?

I mean users can not select FTP uploaded files using FF sources + IMCE. There are many users using IMCE as the only source for FF Sources and the integration is buggy. This module exists as a separate project for users who want a proper integration between filefield and IMCE. It wouldn't be possible to achieve this as a plugin of filefield sources module.
