I have a link in the navigation menu pointing to ?q=aggregator/categories and I can't find any way to disable the link.. Can I do something or do I just need to accept that it's impossible?

Disable the menu item
Go to Admin > Menus and then disable News Aggregator.

It's not possible to disable the link
This is the core of the problem - unlike other links you can't disable the categories link.
Have you tried what we suggested?
I think you don't understand what we're trying to say.
Go to Administer > Menus. Then you find News Aggregator and disable it. This doesn't not disable the module. It only disables the instance in the menu.
You can still use the aggregator via Administer > Content Management > News Aggregator.
I'd like to back this guy
I'd like to back this guy up. Even if you disable the news aggregator menu item the Categories sub-menu item still appears. It is listed in the menus admin page but does not have 'disable' next to it.
