In my opinion it would be better, if the two fieldsets who appear in

  • Node add form (node/add/*)
  • Content type settings page (Home » Structure » Content types) (admin/structure/types/manage/*)

are converted into vertical tabs. Vertical tabs are more "Drupal 7 like".

This code is already in 7.x (http://drupalcode.org/project/protected_node.git/blob/refs/heads/7.x-1.x...).
