I am trying to link 2 author names together using the "Link" tick box in the Author Merge feature.
When I select the LINK box and then Save, it reverts to a tick in the RETAIN AS "ALTERNATE FORM" option.
I can't see that there are permissions set anywhere that are stopping me from doing this.
Could you please help me to resolve this?
Thanks
Gina

GinaF commentedAs this is a serious problem for us, I am wanting to revert to a version that doesn't have this new method of author linking. Are you able to advise me what date this was changed, so I can revert to an early version from my backups?
Thanks
Gina

rjerome commentedI'll check on this today and hopefully fix it so you don't have to revert.
GinaF commentedUnfortunately, I am having a nightmare with updating to any recent version as I seem to be missing a table 'biblio_pubmed_grant_info' and manually creating it is not solving problem. (pls see http://drupal.org/node/1736364 )

rjerome commentedThe "link/unlink" issue has been fixed. There are still however situations where it can get somewhat confusing. If for example, you link more than two authors together, then you unlink one of them while editing one of the other linked authors, you may have unexpected results.
To illustrate what I mean, say you have 3 authors A, B and C. You edit author A and link to B and C. Now you edit author B, you will see A and C are linked to B, but if you unlink C here, C will also be unlinked from A (even though you are editing B). I'm still thinking of ways around this...

GinaF commentedI upgraded to the latest -dev version of Dec 19 (7.x-1.0-rc4+69-dev) and my author linking is now working OK.
Thanks very much for the fix.
rjerome commentedThanks for reporting it. There was a bit of an "edge" case there that I hadn't encountered in my preliminary tests.
GinaF commentedSorry, but I've just been trying to link an author to a completely different name (married therefore changed surname) - therefore the suggested author isn't already visible under the linkable authors list. When you try to add a new author using "Other authors which could be linked to this author", it won't add them to the list when you click "add author". Any ideas?
rjerome commentedHmmm, clearly I need to step up the testing side of things :-)
That's fixed now and will be in the next -dev build.
