Looking at the release, is this code considered stable? Just wondering why there isn't a recommended 7.x release.

A better way of handling this would be to identify the issues that need to be resolved before the D7 version could be considered "done". At the very least I'd suggest helping to get all of the issues with patches reviewed to reduce the burden on the maintainers.
