I am also interested in this. I have a mega menu that i am using - and for testing purposes, I want to duplicate a menu item ( not the full menu ) and all of its children - and edit the content later as i receive it. Is this something that can be done with this module ? Or something that may be in future versions ?

Could this be what you need: #1883412: Integrate Menu Slice into Menu Clone.

If you check out the latest 7.x-1.x branch, it has menu_slice incorporated. Needs to be backported to D6 still...
