It's not clear to me how to use the "dir=" parameter.
I tried with: 

[slideshow:2, rotate=2, blend=1, layout=LAYOUT, name=Foto Gallery, width=400, dir=|files/images|yes||Foto Gallery|Foto Gallery||]

But it does'nt produce anything.

Can you help?

Try putting a / at the end of the directory? eg
dir=|files/images/|yes||Foto Gallery|Foto Gallery||

Oliver said it correctly. you must use the initial "/" character.
