For ease of developers cloning the right branch, please do:

* Make 7.x-1.x default branch on http://drupal.org/node/640498/edit/default-branch
* And step 6 on http://drupal.org/empty-git-master

Done. My git checkout still says that origin/HEAD points to origin/master, but the rest is resolved.
