Can anyone help me. I cannot get my contact form (Contact module) to send emails. I've configured the SMTP Authentication Module which successfully sends test emails. In the contact module configuration I've added the recipient email address to be the same email address as the one on site information details (which is also the same as the one I've used on the SMTP authentication module). The contact form only sends an email if I send the email from the recepient address. Any ideas of what I should try The error I get is Unable to send email. Contact the site administrator. The site is held on a bitnami cloud server. I don't know where to go to find the log files for emails, it's not under Reports. Fairly desperate! I've disabled the SMTP module and I get the same results from the Contact form it doesn't work except only if I send it from the recipient email address. Is it sending emails without using SMTP authentication module if so how do I get it to use the SMTP authentication module or is the SMTP module purely only for sending notifications and alerts and doesn't have anything to do with the Contact module?

The contact module and the smtp module are completely separate and stmp is not, in general, required for using contact. The best way to send email is just use core functionality-- smtp should only be necessary if there's issue with your host.

I would recommend starting with the smtp issue queue-- i remember there being some issues with using it with the contact module.
