Installing drupal7 on linux through package manager

Hello

I just found out that I could install drupal7 thourgh my package manager, meaning with
apt-get install drupal7

Can anyone explain me what this actually does? and why I could prefer this option instead of just downloading the archive and putting it in an apache www folder?

you can also use git to download through the command line.

as far as preference its purely personal.
