We at Zend are looking to do some benchmarking of Drupal and the Zend Platform to gauge performance improvement as a result of the code acceleration and content caching modules. If anyone has any actual or anecdotal benchmarking results we'd be pleased to hear about it.

If you'd be interested in helping us out on this project we can supply an extended evaluation license of the Zend Platform for testing purposes.

We have benchmarked the free op-code caches with Drupal in the past. See more Drupal performance tuning and optimization for large web sites.

What do you mean by "content caching modules"? Like memcache and APC's data caching API?

Does Zend run on Ubuntu server (Feisty or Gutsy)?

Especially the following:

Zend Platform vs. Coolstack (SAMP) some benchmarks here

Also, I haven't looked in depth at Zend's license, but I'd love to see results of Zend Platform vs. APC and eAccelerator.

And also, Roadsend(now GPL licensed!) compiled vs. Zend Platform w/ Zend Guard and APC/eAccelerator comparison as well.

I would love to tackle this, but have little to no time at the present. I'm running out of test servers as well.

But I'd say there is definitely interest in this area.

Hi Mikey,

Thanks very much for your reply. We are working on some more formal benchmarking here in our own lab. Will take your suggestions and test out Coolstack and Roadsend and post some results when we have them.

Please let me know when you might have some time and processing power, and I'll send you an extended license of the Platform so you can play around with it.
