Is it possible that you could make this information show up in a block, rather than in the content, so we can place the information as we please?

This module does almost the exact thing I'd like it to do, however it puts the links where I don't want them.

Presently, this isn't possible. However, I think it's a decent idea and it shouldn't be too much effort to implement it so I'll give it a try.

Just want to clarify and confirm a couple of things before I go ahead.

You want the submenu tree to be displayed in a block so you can place it in the navigational areas of your site? ie. in a left sidebar?

You might have layout problems if trying to fit it all in a sidebar (especially if you're displaying as teasers or fulltext), but I guess that's your issue to sort out.
