I have set up a webform on my site but when users press submit button the button changes into a narrow box and then users have to click it again for the button to be submitted. This happens in explorer and firefox but not in google chrome, which makes me think it might be a browser compatibility issue. If this is the case is there anyway I can change settings in the webform to get rid of this issue?

There are a myriad possible points in your theme, css, modules, etc, where this behavior could be happening. suffice it to say it's not default, something is overriding webform defaults. Do you see this behavior in other themes? What happens when you disable non-core modules (not WF, of course) Without more details, I don't know how to advise any further.
