zoo33 commentedGD doesn't give you the same amount of control over image manipulations as ImageMagick. If we were to support GD we'd have to remove some of the available options and the module would be less attractive. Also, this module has been replaced by ImageMagick Advanced Options (available through Image) and will not be developed further, at least not by me.
