Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Sr. Web Developer for a contract to hire assignment with one of our premier education industry clients in Durham, NC.
The Senior Web Developer is a member of the Systems and Web Services team. The position is responsible for the development and support of web sites and associated digital services; including user needs assessment, design and analysis, testing, implementation and documentation. This position assists fellow Systems and Web Services staff with project management, design, implementation and support of information technology infrastructure.
Education:
Required: BA/BS or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Preferred: Masters degree with a concentration in Information Science.
Experience:
Required:
2 - 5 years of experience working in web services technology and development of multiple complex and/or database-backed websites. Demonstrated experience in web development with content management systems, specifically, Drupal.
Experience working in a Linux, Apache, MySql, PHP (LAMP) Web Server environment
Comprehensive understanding of underlying web technologies such as HTML, XML, XSL/T, CSS, JavaScript, OAI, PHP and standard scripting and query languages
Experience with modern software version control systems (SVN, CVS, Git).
Experience with graphic web design, user analysis, and information architecture.
Ability to manage projects, to set and meet deadlines and to adapt to new and changing situations, priorities and technologies.
Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability and desire to work with diverse groups of individuals including students, staff and faculty; strong initiative and ability to function independently and as a contributing member of a team.
Preferred:
Experience in higher education.
Experience creating custom Drupal modules to deliver solutions not available with existing modules
Ability to modify existing Drupal themes and create new themes
Proficient in the design of user interfaces and architectures relevant for websites within an academic environment
Comprehensive skill and knowledge in web security including exploit prevention and securing data and access to applications with multiple user levels
Working knowledge and experience with web content management systems and frameworks (Wordpress, Symfony, Drupal, Apostrophe, Microsoft SharePoint) and experience working in Apache and IIS Web server, environments.
