Hello everyone,
I am planning to open a new betting advisory service. It will be a site with registration, new members will register and when I add a new pick there will be information about active pick and members will receive it also on their emails. There will also be a monthly and overally statistics. I dont want to advertise other betting services here, but will give 2 links to such services and this will be the example of how I would like my site to be. These sitesarestandardpicks.com and rakasbets.com
As you can see, there are user panel, statistics, active picks and statistics are counting automatically, site admin is only posting a pick and settling it as won, lost or void. I would also the site to calculate automatically all stats.
Please tell me, is that all possible to achieve this using only free extensions to Drupal?
And if its possible, is it really hard to do or its medium level and will take couple of hours to achieve this?
Thank you in advance for reply, regards :-)

There's no way that would take a 'couple of hours' regardless of the sw you use, but yes you can do that with drupal (and virtually all drupal modules are free).

Thanks for reply. Could you please tell me, what kind of extensions should I use? 'Virtually free' - what does it mean, are they free to commercial use? I've been working for a while with Joomla! and now I would like to try to do some good site with Drupal, but I don't even know how to get started with these extensions to create desired site... Any help would be very appreciated, thank you!

"virtually all drupal modules are free" means that nearly all drupal modules are free-- for commercial use, personal use, whatever. I only know of a handful of drupal modules that are not free, and all the ones on drupal.org are free.
As for what modules, I just took a cursory look, but you'll probably want to use at least views, panels or display suite, and one of the graphing modules (i like google_charts and views_chart_tools).

Could you please tell me at least how to start with all these modules? Any help would be really appreciaded.

There's no easy one-size-fits-all answer for how to start. Generally, I start with identifying any custom content types the site might need, then views and blocks of content, and work from there. Since you can use one of those sites as a prototype, you could work on each of the different pages until you get the functionality you want.

Yes, you can, and yes will

not likely-- even an experienced drupal site builder would take longer than that. For a newbie that's simply not possible and even suggesting it is only going to set the user up for failure and frustration.
