This works for me with no problems. (I'm NOT using mysql 5.X I hear it is awful!) Hope that helps!

that code just gives me a 404 error.

i have saved my htaccess as htaccess.txt on my desk to then rename it when i upload using my ftp to .htaccess

kool_zool’s picture

i am trying to get clean urls. i have tryed the same thing with drupal 5.2 and drupal 5.3. I am currently using the 5.3. if you have any ideas of that is am missing from the code or has been put into the code that can come out.

pcs305’s picture

Kool_zool,

In your .htaccess posted, uncomment the RewriteBase statement in your .htaccess.
#RewriteBase /drupal should be RewriteBase /
If you are in a subdir then RewriteBase /subdirectoryNameHere

It works for me on 1and1.

kool_zool’s picture

i seem to be getting an the 500 error message still.

there must be something that is still wrong. my code is now edited to

Hi there! I just had to mention your code (from "got them to work and here is the code i used for my Clean Url" dated October 30, 2007) worked for me! I'm brand new to Drupal, and just installed Drupal 6 as it was just released. I haven't even started adding content yet, or customizing the theme or anything. I was trying all kinds of things to try and get that Clean URL working, but the code you provided was an instant success!

Thanks SO much!

I am using it with php5 so I have an extra line at the top that reads.

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

viktor.mastoridis’s picture

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
Worked for me on 1and1.

Ninjababe’s picture

Please could you assist me with the following. I saw on a forum that you have done this before and that you are with 1and1.
I have finally succesfully installed drupal on my domain, but as soon as I try to navigate to other pages like themes section or administer, I get the following message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: array_intersect_key() in /homepages/39/d315291643/htdocs/riskcontrol/drupal-6.16/modules/update/update.compare.inc on line 695

The welcome page is there, but when I try clicking on anything else and it gives the above message?

I contacted 1and1 and they suggested the following: all you need to do is to parse php to 5.0

To parse php to 5, all you need to is to insert this line "AddType x-mapp-php5 .php " in your drupal .htaccess file

Please advise my if this information is correct and how I go about in doing this???? How & where do I insert this line?

VELOC1RAPT0R’s picture

Unfortunately I'm not very internet savvy. So my sight (getitbacksystem.com) lost all of it's header tabs and pages but they were still "published". It was error 500 and I'm pretty sure 1and1's fault, I downloaded filezilla and found the .htaccess file but I can't get it onto my computer for some reason to add that final line of code. Any pointers?

you can edit it with filezilla.
take a look at this http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/documentation/viewedit.htm

AD-DA’s picture

Worked for me also in Drupal 6.9. Two changes needed:
1. Uncomment and specify install directory in

-- # RewriteBase /
++ RewriteBase /Drupaldir

2. Add the following line at the end of the .htaccess

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

I have the same problem with a client. I had set up a staging subdomain.

Solution = do not use 1 and 1. Support is terrible.
