fused info doesnt show on server

Hopefully i dont sound too nuts here.. but this is the oddest Drupal issue i have ever come across (and i have seen some odd ones).
I have a site just starting devel and it uses fused views in a number of blocks. I am using nodereference module as my source of fusion and i have the latest cck and views code for 5.2

so here's what i have:
- on my local devel machine (WindowsXP, Apache 2.0.59, PHP 5.2.3, MySQL 5.0.27)
Everything seems to work fine. But when i move files and db to server (Debian, Apache/2.2.3 (Debian), PHP/5.2.0-8+etch7, MySQL 5.0.32) the fused info no longer shows.
Now, if i go to edit the primary view and simply save - the fused info comes back. But then on a refresh it is gone again...
Am i going nuts here??? anyone seen anything like this before?
