My Drupal 7 website is blamed by Scala Hosting that uses too much resources.

One of my websites is constantly blamed by Scala Hosting - not so bad hosting with awful support and customer policy, that uses too much resources. The last case was the RAM usage that led to "Abuse of server resources". I have collected information from Awstats and the Resource usage section of Cpanel and have the following:
26 Dec 2012 - Pages: 571 Hits: 6,497 CPU: 0.37 RAM: 0.95
27 Dec 2012 - Pages: 2,063 Hits:18,918 CPU: 1.78 RAM: 4.92
28 Dec 2012 - Pages: 2,065 Hits:21,412 CPU: 2.31 RAM: 4.52
All this looks strange to me and I tend to believe that this hosting company is not honest and the data is manipulative and they are trying to force me to upgrade my plan and pay more.
I would highly appreciate any help or advice from more experienced users.
Thanks.

your hosts resource usage policy is located here: https://www.scalahosting.com/tos

not sure what plan you have but, I'd ask them what the percentages mean where it concerns your server as those percentages could be quite easy to reach with the amount of traffic you're getting.

CPU/memory resource limits:
Plan Mini - 1%
Plan Start - 2%
Plan Advanced - 4%
Plan E-commerce - 6%

Drupal can be resource intensive and one can run into issues especially on value/bargain hosts.

RAM usage per day is an odd

RAM usage per day is an odd measurement and it is not clear why they would consider is significant. Each session is bound by the a PHP setting and the overall effect of their message seems to be your site is too busy for your hosting plan.

I think you should check into

I think you should check into it more. Many hosts sell what is marketed as an unlimited plan but they don't tell you the catches such as how much resources you can use, cron only every 15 minutes. I know before I opened my own company I ran into that some with a previous host.

EDIT:

This is part of their TOS

Resource usage
Any account on the server cannot use more than the following CPU or memory resources. If you use too much system resources, you will be notified to take the necessary actions. If the usage is too high to keep the server unstable, we will suspend the overloading account so that it doesn't affect the other clients on the server.Cutomer agrees not to use the shared hosting service to send bulk e-mail. Mailing lists are allowed and the customer can send e-mail messages as per our hourly mail limits however those messages cannot be sent 24/7. If you need to send more than 5000 mails per month the shared hosting service will not be sufficient. A VPS or dedicated server will be required for that. 1. Shared hostingCustomers may not send more than 500 e-mail messages per hour. CPU/memory resource limits:Plan Mini - 1%Plan Start - 2%Plan Advanced - 4%Plan E-commerce - 6%2. Budget reseller hostingCustomers may not send more than 200 e-mail messages per hour. Any account on the server cannot use more than 2% CPU or memory resources.3. Power reseller hostingCustomers may not send more than 400 e-mail messages per hour. Any account on the server cannot use more than 4% CPU or memory resources.

Thanks

Thanks all for your advices.
After discussing the problem with the hosting company, all of a sudden the site stopped using too much resources.
After all I'm satisfied with this, because I don't want to move my Drupal sites right now.
The question of cheap and reliable Drupal hosting is still on the schedule for me.
Thanks.
