This works ok for puting up a new screen name but the link takes one back to the user who did the submitting. I run many sites with dozens of different authors (i.e online magazines etc.) and i woul like th link to take the viewer to an author profile that also liste the other articles that they have written, possible have a contact form but not sync in with the "real users" of the site who are a much smaller grroup of staff and volunteers.

I've tried with limted success to create a taxonomy category for each author (gets ugly fast with the drop down and doesn't seem to work to well with free form text either.) the authoring spot seems the natural place to work from so i'm looking for a module on this line that magaznines might use.

any ideas?

This request appears to be something you might expect this module to do. However, what you're asking for is something beyond the realms of a quick hack to this module. It's a whole new module or rewrite of this one. Not something I can look at doing right now.
