Hi,
I'm quite new to Drupal.
I've been asked to build an intranet environment for an international community. My (their) needs are :
- possibility to manage multilingual content
ex. an article with many translated version and with EN, FR, IT ... tags sending to the right translated version (if it exists)
- hierachical user access permissions with dedicated content for each group
ex. Boss group could see everything, employee group could see only the content available for employee and below ...
- user access permissions should be the same for modules like forum, file manager ...
ex. one user would connect and be able with the same account to access content, forum, files ...
Usualy I'm working with Joomla (sorry for Drupalers) for my projects but it lacks of a good permission structure which is essential in my actual project. As I said earlier, I'm not quite familiar with Drupal but I'm willing to learn how to work with it. But before, I just want to know (honestly) if my project here is possible with Drupal without spending my entire life hacking it.
Thanks

Thanks to all
Really, really thanks to all,
for all your kind answers. That was so much of help for me and now I do absolutely know what to do. Yeah, that's for sure I will carefully follow all your advices.
Funny yes ??? There's more interest in a post asking what Drupal can't do (9 posts) than in one asking what is possible to do with it !!! Strange to me. But nevermind.

Despite having a huge user
Despite having a huge user group, this forum seem to move quite slowly.
I would wait another day, and then bump it.
Unfortunately I can't help answer your query myself.
I am very interested in the multi-language question you posed though.
