Show markup styling in edit view?

If I add mark up to a table cell it shows correctly on the node view.

So this:
Line1<br>Line2

Is displayed like this

Line1
Line2

However the mark up is shown as plain text in the edit view, regardless of what text format I chose. So its displayed like this:
Line1<br>Line2
